Overall I am up playing poker in the last 6 years.

My love of poker comes and goes in spurts, not that I get frustrated or need to take a break from losses. I seriously just find something else that interests me for a few months but when I come back it is right back to where I left off in terms of generating profit.
And to be honest it's not that I have been dealt the deck, sucking out more than the numbers would suggest, or anything that comes with what casual players like to refer to as "Running good". I've just been playing really solid poker with no distractions.

Last Monday I made it a point to really track my playing and committed myself to playing exactly 40 hours of poker on my vacation from work. The end result as of right now is taking a $160 bankroll turning into $904.30 which yielded an $18.60/Hr result. Something I can easily get by with.

I was tinkering with the idea of working my regular job just on the weekends which would enable me to have health insurance, pay all my monthly expenses plus stash a few bucks for a rainy day. I also took a substantial buyout from my previous employer that is in Savings. So if Shit ever hit that fan I would be covered for well over a year.

I'm not trying to be some internet hot shot playing in the highest of stakes or traveling or anything of that nature. I want to have freedom to "grind" around other things I want to do with my life.

So basically I am asking for any advice from personal experiences or any thing I am over looking.

Track more play before you pull the trigger.

Save even more in your emergency fund while you are doing it.

Good luck to you.

I agree track more then a week for sure. I have been a *pro player* for 2 years now. and 1 week of tracking doesn't mean much. BOL on whatever you decide

I completely agree. This type of move wont be made until I track 6 months minimum. I just want to gather all the facts/problems with this type of move before it moves into the "serious consideration" category.

Mainly $52 double or nothings.

those things seem more jacked up than any other games.. cant believe how often big pocket pair runs into bigger pocket pair. their is no way the deal is random in those things.. and they also seem like colusion would be easier to do.

what is your win % ? i guess if you can hit 60 % , you could make 80 bucks every 10 games.

I do not personally believe that a person without 1.5 yrs living expenses in the bank and a bankroll to play on of approx that same size can make a living wage with poker as his sole occupation. There are always exceptions. Some guy enters a tourny, gets lucky and wins 3 million...yea he might have a shot with proper bankroll mgmt. i have beeb trying everything known to man to make a consistent living..live , online, i play 8 different games, i dont multi table well and im not great with bankroll mgmt but i can tell you after 5 years= of doing this everday im almost insane..seriously insane. I had to leave the casino last night because just looking at my cards was making me physically sick....i just in maybe 10 mins time just started hating what i was doing..

The reason im saying all this is trying to put all the factors out there that should be involved in a decision to play full time....and i didnt even mention banking, bookkeeping and taxes. The stress factor for someone who is not extremely well positioned is just to high for even the abv avg person to handle....

I'd want a good 200,000-300,000 hands of analysis before considering. Poker Tracker or Poker Office is an invaluable tool.

I think I'd much prefer to do it live but there are a ridiculous amount of people who do it online. It would get to me I think. But best of luck.

I am in no ways the caliber of player that can consider making it full time. But I wish you the best. I'd suggest having at least 1 years of living expenses put away and untouchable. If you can easily go back to full time at your job, that's an extra cushion.
